Which German car manufacturer produces the BMW 3 Series? The answer is BMW.
The BMW 3 Series is a compact executive-car line made by the German automaker Bayerische Motoren Werke, universally known as BMW. It was introduced in 1975 as the successor to BMW’s 02 Series and became one of the company’s defining model families.
The original 3 Series was offered only as a two-door saloon, but later generations expanded into four-door saloons, convertibles, estates and other body styles. Since 2013, BMW has marketed the 3 Series coupé and convertible derivatives under the separate 4 Series name. The M3 performance variant, introduced in 1986 on the E30 platform, became especially influential in touring-car and performance-car culture.
The answer is not BMW Group’s other major brands, Mini or Rolls-Royce. Those marques belong to the same corporate group, but the 3 Series is a BMW-branded vehicle. BMW’s model numbering also helps distinguish it from the larger 5 Series and 7 Series families.
