Which German car brand uses a three-pointed star to symbolize land, sea, and air?

The story behind the answer

Mercedes-Benz uses a three-pointed star to symbolize dominance on land, at sea, and in the air. The emblem developed from a symbol associated with Gottlieb Daimler and was later enclosed in a circle.

Daimler reportedly used a star on a family postcard and described it as marking the place where he lived. His sons later connected the star with the company’s ambition to motorize land, water and air. Mercedes registered the three-pointed star as a trademark in 1909.

The circular badge and the star became closely associated with Mercedes cars, although the company also used a laurel wreath and other forms during its history. The modern emblem is usually seen as a silver star within a ring.

The symbol is sometimes mistaken for a generic three-point star or confused with other German automaker badges. Its traditional three-part interpretation specifically links Mercedes-Benz with land, sea and air transport.
