Which game first introduced Kratos's Blades of Chaos?

The story behind the answer

God of War (2005) first introduced Kratos's Blades of Chaos.

The chained blades are forged in the Underworld and given to Kratos by Ares, the Greek god of war. They become permanently bound to Kratos's arms after he pledges himself to Ares, making them both a powerful weapon and a symbol of his servitude.

Their long chains allow Kratos to strike enemies at range, pull targets toward him, and perform wide sweeping attacks. The blades became one of the most recognizable visual features of the series and returned in several Greek-era sequels.

Players sometimes identify God of War III or God of War (2018) as the introduction because the weapons receive major story moments in those games. However, their first appearance was in the original 2005 title, where they define Kratos's early combat style.
