Paris Saint-Germain became the first French winner of the UEFA Super Cup in 2025.
Paris won the 2025 edition by defeating Tottenham Hotspur 4–3 on penalties after a 2–2 draw at the end of the match. That victory made Paris the first French club to lift the trophy and the 26th different team to win it.
The achievement gave Paris a direct connection to the 2026 final. As the 2025–26 Champions League holders, the club returned to the Super Cup one year later to face Aston Villa, the Europa League winners. Paris then won again, defeating Villa 2–1 in Salzburg.
Before the 2025 success, Paris had appeared in the Super Cup only once, in the 1996 edition. It lost that contest to Juventus 9–2 on aggregate. The back-to-back victories in 2025 and 2026 therefore transformed Paris from a first-time French winner into a consecutive champion.
