Jack Clarke scored Ipswich Town’s 90th-minute winner against Sunderland in the 2026–27 Premier League opener.
Ipswich defeated Sunderland 2–1 at Portman Road, with Clarke deciding the match late in normal time. His goal was particularly notable because he had previously played for Sunderland.
The result gave Ipswich a winning return to the Premier League. Sunderland were also newly promoted, making the fixture an all-promoted-club meeting in the opening round.
Clarke’s goal was not Ipswich’s first of the match; the home side had already scored once before Sunderland equalised. The former Sunderland player then restored Ipswich’s advantage in the 90th minute.
