Which fish is famous for using its fins to walk across mudflats and breathe air for long periods?

The story behind the answer

The mudskipper is famous for using its fins to move across mudflats and for breathing air for long periods.

Mudskippers are amphibious gobies that live in intertidal habitats, where the shoreline repeatedly changes between water and exposed mud. Their enlarged pectoral fins help them push, hop, and climb over wet surfaces.

They can absorb oxygen through their skin and the lining of their mouth and throat when these surfaces stay moist. This allows them to remain out of water, though they still need humid conditions and regular contact with water.

Mudskippers are not the same as lungfish, which are freshwater fishes with specialized lungs. Nor are they walking fish in the sense of having legs; their fin movements provide the appearance and function of walking.
