Which Final Fantasy VII organization is led by President Shinra?

The Shinra Electric Power Company is the organization led by President Shinra in Final Fantasy VII. Usually called Shinra, it is the powerful corporation that controls Midgar and much of the Planet’s political and economic life.

Shinra produces energy by extracting mako from the Planet’s Lifestream. This industrial system powers cities, vehicles, weapons, and technology, but the extraction weakens the Planet and becomes the central environmental and political conflict of the game.

The company also contains military and security divisions, including SOLDIER and the Turks. Its executive structure includes President Shinra, his son Rufus, and scientists such as Hojo. After President Shinra is killed, Rufus assumes leadership of the corporation.

The other options are separate factions or places. AVALANCHE is an anti-Shinra resistance group; Wutai is a nation involved in the earlier war; and Garden belongs to the setting of Final Fantasy VIII, not VII. Shinra is therefore the organization’s canonical name, with “Shinra Corporation” used informally in some references.
