The story behind the answer

Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland co-directed the 2006 film Quinceañera.

The film follows Magdalena, a teenager in Los Angeles preparing for her quinceañera while facing family conflict and an unexpected pregnancy. Glatzer and Westmoreland also wrote the screenplay, making the project a closely collaborative directorial and writing effort.

Quinceañera premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, where it won both the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize in the Dramatic Competition. It later received a theatrical release and became known for its focus on Mexican American family life in Echo Park.

The directors later worked together on other films, including The Last of Robin Hood and Still Alice. Westmoreland also directed the biographical film Colette, while Glatzer continued filmmaking despite developing amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
