Which filmmaker co-wrote and co-directed Quinceañera with Wash Westmoreland?
Answer
Richard Glatzer
Answer
Richard Glatzer
Richard Glatzer co-wrote and co-directed Quinceañera with Wash Westmoreland.
Glatzer and Westmoreland developed the film as a character-driven independent drama set in East Los Angeles. Its plot follows Magdalena and her family during preparations for her quinceañera, using the celebration to explore family pressure, religious expectations, sexuality, and belonging.
The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006 and won the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award in the U.S. Dramatic category. These honors made the writing and directing partnership especially visible in independent cinema.
Glatzer and Westmoreland continued working together on later projects, including The Last of Robin Hood and Still Alice. Glatzer was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, and died in 2015. His career included both filmmaking and writing, but Quinceañera remains one of the clearest examples of his collaboration with Westmoreland.
