Which film won the Best Picture Oscar at the 2024 ceremony?

Oppenheimer won the Best Picture Oscar at the 2024 ceremony, officially the 96th Academy Awards.

Christopher Nolan’s historical drama about J. Robert Oppenheimer and the Manhattan Project was named Best Picture on March 10, 2024. Producers Emma Thomas, Charles Roven and Nolan accepted the award for the film, which had been released in July 2023. Oppenheimer led the ceremony with seven wins from 13 nominations.

The film also won Oscars for Nolan’s direction, Cillian Murphy’s leading performance, Robert Downey Jr.’s supporting performance, film editing, cinematography and original score. A common mix-up is to call the movie the 2024 film or to confuse the ceremony year with the release year: the 2024 Oscars primarily recognized films released in 2023. Barbie, released alongside Oppenheimer, was nominated for Best Picture but did not win.
