Which film portrays Coco Chanel’s relationship with Igor Stravinsky?

Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky portrays Coco Chanel’s relationship with Igor Stravinsky.

Directed by Jan Kounen, the 2009 film is based on Chris Greenhalgh’s 2002 novel Coco & Igor. Anna Mouglalis plays Chanel and Mads Mikkelsen plays Stravinsky. The story is set largely around the period after the First World War, when the composer and his family came into Chanel’s orbit.

The film is also notable for connecting Chanel with Stravinsky’s music and artistic circle. It is not the same production as Coco Before Chanel, which stars Audrey Tautou and concentrates on Chanel’s earlier life.

Although the film dramatizes historical events, its title identifies the central relationship directly. The ampersand in the English title is important because it distinguishes this work from other screen biographies of Chanel.
