FIFA 18 was the first FIFA title to appear on the Nintendo Switch.
Electronic Arts released FIFA 18 for Nintendo’s hybrid console in 2017. The Switch edition was built specifically for the platform and supported both television play and portable play, reflecting the console’s detachable Joy-Con design.
Unlike the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, the Switch release did not use the Frostbite engine. It used a customised technology foundation and omitted some features, including the story-driven Journey campaign.
This platform debut is distinct from the series’ earlier Nintendo appearances. FIFA games had already been released on systems such as the Wii, Nintendo DS, and other Nintendo hardware, but FIFA 18 was the first entry for the Nintendo Switch.
