FIFA 08 was the first FIFA video game released for Nintendo Wii.
The Wii version launched in 2007 and used motion-sensitive controls designed around the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. This edition was not simply a direct port of the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 version; it had a separate control approach and presentation tailored to Nintendo’s console.
FIFA 08 was released across several platforms, including PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable and Wii. Its Wii release is sometimes confused with FIFA 07 because FIFA 07 appeared on many systems, but it did not receive a Wii edition.
The game also formed part of EA Sports’ annual football cycle before the series moved toward more platform-specific features in later generations.
