FIFA 23 was the last Electronic Arts game released under the FIFA name.
Released in 2022, FIFA 23 was the final entry in EA’s long-running FIFA-branded football series. Electronic Arts and FIFA did not renew their licensing agreement for subsequent games, ending a partnership that had supported the series’ name since the original FIFA International Soccer in 1993.
EA’s next football game was EA Sports FC 24, released in 2023. Although it no longer used FIFA branding, it retained many established licenses and gameplay systems, including licensed leagues, clubs and competitions negotiated separately from the FIFA name.
FIFA 23 included both men’s and women’s FIFA World Cup content and added women’s club football to the series. Those additions belong to FIFA 23’s feature set, while the title’s historical importance is that it closed the EA FIFA era.
