Which FIFA game introduced the goalkeeper career position in Be a Pro mode?

The story behind the answer

FIFA 11 introduced the goalkeeper career position in Be a Pro mode.

FIFA 11 expanded the player-focused Be a Pro experience by letting users control a goalkeeper as well as an outfield footballer. That change made the mode more complete, because players could experience matches from one of the most specialized positions on the pitch.

Goalkeeper control differs substantially from ordinary outfield play. Positioning, reaction saves, diving, and distribution become the main tasks, while the player must also follow tactical instructions and avoid leaving the goal exposed.

This feature is distinct from FIFA 12’s improvements to other gameplay systems. Be a Pro itself had appeared earlier, but FIFA 11 is the edition associated with adding the goalkeeper role. It should not be confused with Career Mode, where a user can manage a club or play as a footballer across a season.
