Which FIFA game introduced the First Touch Control system?

The story behind the answer

FIFA 13 introduced the First Touch Control system.

First Touch Control changed how players received the ball by making control more dependent on the ball’s pace, angle and the receiving player’s technical attributes. A poor first touch could push the ball farther away, while elite players were more likely to keep close control.

The feature was part of FIFA 13’s broader gameplay changes, which also included 2nd Generation Impact Engine improvements and Complete Dribbling refinements. These systems aimed to make possession and physical contests less predictable than in earlier editions.

First Touch Control is sometimes confused with FIFA 14’s Pure Shot system, which focused on shooting animations and ball striking. They affected different parts of play: First Touch Control concerned receiving the ball, while Pure Shot concerned attempts on goal.
