FIFA 10 was the first FIFA game to include the UEFA Europa League under its current name.
The UEFA Europa League replaced the UEFA Cup beginning with the 2009–10 season. FIFA 10 reflected that real-world rebranding by incorporating the competition under the Europa League name, alongside the licensed European competitions available in the game.
The change matters because the UEFA Cup had existed for decades before the rebrand. Earlier football games may feature European club tournaments, but their names and licenses do not automatically make them UEFA Europa League editions. FIFA 10 belongs to the period when the new identity became official.
Players sometimes confuse this fact with the Champions League’s arrival in later FIFA titles. The Europa League and Champions League were separate competitions, with different histories and branding. FIFA 10’s relevance here is specifically the first appearance of the renamed Europa League.
