FIFA 20 first included the Copa Libertadores as a licensed competition.
EA Sports added the CONMEBOL Libertadores to FIFA 20 through a major update released in March 2020. The game also included the CONMEBOL Sudamericana and Recopa Sudamericana, giving South American club football a much broader official presence in the series.
The license was especially significant because the Copa Libertadores is South America’s premier club competition. Its inclusion brought clubs, branding, and tournament presentation from the CONMEBOL region into FIFA’s existing club-football ecosystem.
The update arrived after FIFA 20’s original launch, so some players remember it as a later addition rather than a feature available on the first day. The competition should not be confused with the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League, which are European tournaments. FIFA 20 also introduced VOLTA Football, but that street-football mode is unrelated to the Libertadores license.
