Which fictional player is the protagonist of FIFA 17’s story mode?

Alex Hunter is the fictional protagonist of FIFA 17's story mode, The Journey.

The mode follows Hunter, a young English footballer trying to break into professional football. Players guide his matches and selected decisions while the story presents training, transfers, family relationships and the pressures surrounding a promising player.

Hunter's story was designed as a cinematic single-player experience and was voiced and performed by actors rather than being based on a real footballer. His fictional career continued in FIFA 18 and FIFA 19, where the narrative expanded into new clubs, competitions and personal conflicts.

Danny Williams and Gareth Walker are important characters in the story, but neither is the central protagonist of FIFA 17. Kim Hunter becomes significant later in the series, especially in FIFA 19, which is why these names are plausible but incorrect alternatives.
