AFC Richmond became playable in FIFA 23 through the game’s partnership with Ted Lasso.
AFC Richmond is the fictional English club from the television series Ted Lasso. FIFA 23 added the club, its manager Ted Lasso, and several characters and items from the show as special content.
Players could use AFC Richmond in selected modes, including Career Mode, Kick-Off, Online Friendlies, and Online Seasons. Jason Sudeikis’ likeness was included for Ted Lasso, while fictional players such as Roy Kent and Jamie Tartt were also represented.
This collaboration was unusual because most football-game teams are real clubs governed by sporting licenses. It was not the same as adding a newly promoted real-world team: AFC Richmond was created for television and entered the game as entertainment crossover content.
