Lisa Cuddy is Gregory House’s boss for much of House M.D.
Cuddy is the dean of medicine and hospital administrator at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. She supervises House, manages the institution’s competing clinical and financial demands, and frequently challenges his willingness to ignore rules in pursuit of a diagnosis.
Their relationship combines professional conflict, mutual respect, and romantic tension. Cuddy’s administrative position gives her authority over House even when she values his extraordinary diagnostic ability. She must also respond to complaints from patients, staff, and colleagues affected by his unconventional behavior.
Lisa Edelstein played Cuddy for the first seven seasons of the series. The character’s first name can be confused with Lisa Park, a physician from The Good Doctor, or with other doctors on House’s teams. Cuddy is specifically the administrator who oversees House’s department and is not one of his diagnostic fellows.
