Which feature did Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire introduce for judged Pokémon performances?

The story behind the answer

Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire introduced Pokémon Contests for judged performances.

In these competitions, Pokémon performed moves before a judge rather than simply fighting until one side fainted. Contest categories included Coolness, Beauty, Cuteness, Cleverness, and Toughness. A Pokémon’s Condition affected how well it could perform, and players could improve that Condition with Pokéblocks made from Berries.

Contests gave moves and Pokémon qualities a purpose outside ordinary battles. A move that was valuable in a Gym fight could have a different effect in a Contest, where appeal, category, and competition order mattered. Contest Hall activities therefore became a major side feature of the Hoenn games.

Pokémon Contests are sometimes confused with Super Contests, which were introduced later in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Ruby and Sapphire established the original Contest system, while later games expanded or renamed the concept with additional rules and presentation features.
