Iron Crown added Octane’s Gauntlet as Apex Legends’ first Town Takeover.
The Iron Crown Collection Event ran from August 13 to August 27, 2019, in Season 2. It modified Kings Canyon with Octane’s Gauntlet, a stunt-themed area built around the daredevil Legend’s personality and movement-focused gameplay. The location included jump pads and a fiery racetrack-style section where squads could fight while launching themselves through the terrain.
A Town Takeover is a map location themed around a particular Legend. Octane’s Gauntlet established the format, which later expanded through locations such as Bloodhound’s Trials, Pathfinder’s Fight Night and Crypto’s Map Room.
The event is sometimes confused with later Legend-focused updates because Octane’s Gauntlet remained part of Kings Canyon after Iron Crown ended. Genesis was a later anniversary-style event, Fight Night centered on Pathfinder, and Voidwalker centered on Wraith, so none of those introduced Octane’s location.
