Answer
Rosetta
Which ESA spacecraft orbited comet 67P? Rosetta. The European Space Agency’s Rosetta became the first spacecraft to orbit a comet when it reached 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko in August 2014.
Rosetta launched in 2004 and used several planetary flybys to gain speed before reaching the comet. It spent more than two years studying 67P, mapping its nucleus, monitoring its jets and coma, and observing the comet as it approached the Sun.
The mission also carried Philae, which made the first soft landing on a comet in November 2014. Philae bounced before settling on the surface, but still returned valuable measurements. Rosetta remained in orbit and eventually ended its mission with a controlled impact on 67P in September 2016.
Dawn is commonly confused with Rosetta because it also explored small Solar System bodies, but Dawn visited the asteroid Vesta and dwarf planet Ceres. Japan’s Hayabusa returned samples from asteroid Itokawa, while Giotto flew past Halley’s Comet rather than orbiting 67P.
