Which engine supplier has powered Moto2 since the 2019 season?

The story behind the answer

Triumph has powered Moto2 as the class’s engine supplier since the 2019 season.

Triumph replaced Honda, whose CBR600RR-based four-cylinder engine had been used from Moto2’s inaugural 2010 season through 2018. The change introduced a 765cc inline-three engine developed from the Triumph Street Triple RS powerplant, giving the intermediate class a new mechanical identity.

Moto2 is a spec-engine championship: teams build or select their own chassis, but all competitors use the designated Triumph three-cylinder engine package. This keeps the focus on rider skill, chassis setup and team engineering rather than allowing manufacturers to compete with different engine designs.

The 765cc figure can cause confusion because it is also associated with Triumph’s road motorcycles. The Moto2 engine is a race-prepared unit, not simply an untouched production engine. Moto2 itself is also distinct from MotoGP, where manufacturers develop their own prototype engines.
