Which endangered Sahara antelope is known for long, ringed horns?

The story behind the answer

The addax is an endangered Sahara antelope known for long, ringed horns. Its scientific name is Addax nasomaculatus, and it is adapted to some of the driest habitats in North Africa.

Both male and female addax grow twisted, slender horns that can reach about a metre in length. Their pale coats reflect sunlight, while seasonal changes can alter the shade of the fur. Broad hooves help them travel across sand.

Addax can survive for long periods with little or no free-standing water by obtaining moisture from plants and reducing water loss. They feed on grasses, herbs and browse, often moving in response to scattered rainfall.

Wild populations have been severely reduced by hunting, habitat pressure and disturbance. The species is classified as Critically Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Captive breeding and protected areas support conservation, but wild recovery remains difficult.
