Daft Punk won the 2014 Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album with Random Access Memories. The victory came at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, held on January 26, 2014, where the French duo became the night’s biggest winner.
Random Access Memories marked a major stylistic shift for Daft Punk, blending electronic production with live instrumentation and prominent collaborations. The album included “Get Lucky,” featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers, as well as appearances by Giorgio Moroder, Julian Casablancas, and Paul Williams. Its warm, analog-focused sound contrasted with the duo’s earlier, more overtly machine-driven work.
The album’s Grammy success extended beyond the dance category. Daft Punk also won Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. A frequent confusion is between the album award and Best Dance Recording: the latter went to Zedd and Foxes for “Clarity.”
