Which dwarf never speaks?
Answer
Dopey
Answer
Dopey
Dopey is the dwarf who never speaks in Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
In the 1937 animated film, Dopey communicates through facial expressions, gestures, comic movements, and vocal noises rather than dialogue. Happy explains the joke directly: Dopey has never tried to speak. His silence is part of his childlike, accident-prone personality and helps distinguish him from the other six dwarfs.
Dopey is also visually distinctive. He is the only dwarf without a beard, has unusually large ears, and is portrayed as the youngest and most naïve member of the group. Voice artist Eddie Collins supplied Dopey’s vocal effects, even though the character has no spoken lines.
A common mix-up is assuming that Sleepy, because of his drowsy personality, is the silent dwarf. Sleepy does speak and reacts verbally throughout the film. Sneezy and Bashful also have dialogue, while Dopey’s role relies almost entirely on mime and sound effects.
