Dubai's internationally famous New Year's Eve fireworks center on the Burj Khalifa.
The Burj Khalifa is the world's tallest building, rising 828 metres including its architectural top. Its height, illuminated façade, and location beside the Dubai Fountain and Dubai Mall make it a natural focus for a city-scale midnight production. Images of fireworks climbing the tower have become strongly associated with Dubai's New Year's celebrations.
The building is in Downtown Dubai, a master-planned district developed around major attractions and transport connections. Large crowds gather in the district, while viewers also watch from hotels, boats, and distant parts of the emirate.
The Burj Al Arab is another recognizable Dubai landmark and has hosted its own spectacular displays, so it can be confused with the Burj Khalifa in photographs. The name “Burj Khalifa” refers specifically to the skyscraper formerly known during construction as Burj Dubai.
