Dubai’s Burj Khalifa is famous for New Year’s Eve fireworks and LED light shows.
The skyscraper stands in Downtown Dubai and reaches 828 metres, making it the world’s tallest building since its completion. Its New Year celebration uses the tower’s exterior display system, fireworks, lasers, and coordinated lighting to create a large-scale visual show visible across the city.
The building opened officially on January 4, 2010. It was originally known as Burj Dubai, but its name changed to Burj Khalifa during the inauguration in honor of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, then president of the United Arab Emirates.
Burj Al Arab is another famous Dubai landmark, but it is a sail-shaped hotel rather than the world’s tallest building. The Burj Khalifa’s height and illuminated façade are the features most associated with its New Year spectacle.
