Which Dragon's Den investor was the founder of the technology company Red Letter Days?

The story behind the answer

Rachel Elnaugh was the founder of the technology company Red Letter Days.

Elnaugh established Red Letter Days, a gift-experience business that sold vouchers for activities and special occasions. The company became closely associated with her entrepreneurial career and helped explain why she was selected as one of the original Dragons when the BBC programme launched in 2005.

Red Letter Days later encountered financial difficulties and entered administration in 2005. The business was subsequently acquired by other investors, including Peter Jones and Theo Paphitis. This history is an important distinction: founding a company does not mean the founder continued to own it after financial restructuring.

Elnaugh was one of the five original Dragons, alongside Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne, Theo Paphitis and Doug Richard. She left the panel before Deborah Meaden joined in series 3.
