Which Dragon's Den investor created the Yo! Sushi restaurant brand?

The story behind the answer

Simon Woodroffe created the Yo! Sushi restaurant brand.

Woodroffe is a British entrepreneur who founded Yo! Sushi, a restaurant concept known for serving dishes from a moving conveyor belt. The first Yo! Sushi restaurant opened in London in 1997, before Woodroffe became an original investor on the British Dragon's Den panel.

The conveyor-belt model made the restaurants visually distinctive and changed how customers selected food. Plates moved around the dining area, allowing customers to choose dishes directly rather than ordering every item from a conventional menu. The concept helped make sushi more accessible to a wider British audience.

Woodroffe’s business is sometimes attributed to Theo Paphitis because both were original dragons and both had significant retail or hospitality interests. They are different entrepreneurs, however. Paphitis founded The Real Greek, while Woodroffe is the founder associated with Yo! Sushi and the “Yo!” brand.
