Which Dragon left the British TV programme Dragon's Den in 2014 after 12 series as an investor?
Answer
Duncan Bannatyne
Answer
Duncan Bannatyne
Duncan Bannatyne left the British TV programme Dragon's Den in 2014 after 12 series as an investor.
Bannatyne was one of the original Dragons when the British version launched in 2005. He became particularly associated with the panel's direct questioning and with investments in businesses presented by entrepreneurs seeking capital and expertise.
His business empire grew from ventures including care homes, health clubs and hotels. He also became a well-known author and charity campaigner, and received an OBE for services including charitable work.
Bannatyne's departure came after the twelfth series, and he was replaced on the regular panel by entrepreneur and investor Nick Jenkins. The timing can be confused with the exits of Theo Paphitis or James Caan, who left at different points. Peter Jones, another original Dragon, remained with the programme, which is why Bannatyne is not the answer to questions about the sole continuous original investor.
