Which Dolphins captain ended the 2011 season on injured reserve?

The story behind the answer

Jake Long, one of the Miami Dolphins’ 2011 team captains, ended that season on injured reserve.

Long was Miami’s starting left tackle and had been selected first overall by the Dolphins in the 2008 NFL Draft. By 2011, he was already an established Pro Bowl player and a central part of the team’s offensive line. The Dolphins named him one of their offensive captains for the season, alongside quarterback Chad Henne.

Long suffered a back injury in December and later injured his right biceps during a December game against the New England Patriots. On December 28, 2011, Miami placed him on season-ending injured reserve. The move ended his regular season and also threatened his participation in the Pro Bowl, for which he had been selected.

The question can be confusing because linebacker Koa Misi was also placed on injured reserve earlier that December. However, Misi was not listed among the Dolphins’ 2011 team captains. Jake Long is the captain who fits both parts of the clue: he was a team captain and finished the season on IR.
