The Diwali-linked Hindu festival also known as Choti Diwali is Naraka Chaturdashi.

Naraka Chaturdashi is observed on the fourteenth day of the dark fortnight in the Hindu lunar month of Ashvin or Kartika, depending on the calendar tradition. It is generally considered the second day of the five-day Diwali festival, although regional observances differ.

The festival commemorates the defeat of the asura Narakasura by Krishna and Satyabhama. Its other names include Kali Chaudas, Roop Chaudas and Narak Chaudas. “Choti” or “Chhoti” means “small,” distinguishing it from the main Diwali celebration in common usage.

Customs vary across India but may include an early-morning oil bath, prayers, lamps, sweets and fireworks. In Goa, people traditionally make and burn effigies of Narakasura. It is often confused with Dhanteras, Govardhan Puja or Bhai Dooj, but those are separate days in the Diwali season.
