At the time, Walt Disney Feature Animation was Disney’s division responsible for developing and producing animated feature films. The film was made primarily at the studio’s animation facility in Glendale, California, with additional work contributed by the Disney-MGM Studios satellite operation in Florida.

Walt Disney Pictures was the film’s Disney distribution and branding banner, not the animation division that made it. Pixar Animation Studios helped develop Disney’s CAPS computer-animation system, which Beauty and the Beast used, but Pixar did not produce the film. DreamWorks Animation was a separate rival studio and was not involved.
