Which designer was Dior’s artistic director from 2012 to 2015?
Answer
Raf Simons
Answer
Raf Simons
Raf Simons was Dior’s artistic director from 2012 to 2015.
The Belgian designer joined Dior after John Galliano’s departure and presented his first haute couture collection for the house in July 2012. His tenure combined Dior’s historic codes with a cleaner, more modern approach to silhouette, tailoring, and presentation.
Simons had previously led his own menswear label and had served as creative director of Jil Sander. After leaving Dior in 2015, he later became co-creative director of Prada with Miuccia Prada.
Simons is distinct from Hedi Slimane, Nicolas Ghesquière, and Alber Elbaz, all influential designers who held major roles elsewhere but did not serve as Dior’s artistic director during this period. Maria Grazia Chiuri succeeded Simons at Dior in 2016.
