FedEx is the delivery company whose logo contains a hidden right-pointing arrow.
The arrow appears in the negative space between the capital “E” and “x” in the FedEx wordmark. It was created in 1994 by designer Lindon Leader of Landor Associates, who modified lettering based on typefaces including Univers and Futura. The arrow suggests movement, direction, speed, and getting a shipment from one point to another.
The design is subtle rather than a separately drawn symbol, which is why many viewers do not notice it immediately. The logo normally uses purple for “Fed” and orange for “Ex,” although FedEx divisions historically used different colors, including green for FedEx Ground and red for FedEx Freight.
A common mix-up is assuming the arrow belongs to UPS, DHL, or another courier logo. Those companies have distinctive marks, but the famous concealed arrow is specifically associated with FedEx. The company adopted “FedEx” as its official name in 1994, shortened from Federal Express.
