Which defensive captain left the Giants prior to the 2014 season?
Answer
Justin Tuck
Answer
Justin Tuck
Justin Tuck was the defensive captain who left the Giants before the 2014 season. The veteran defensive end signed with the Oakland Raiders in March 2014 after nine seasons in New York.
Tuck joined the Giants in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft and became one of the team’s leading pass rushers. He helped New York win Super Bowl XLII after the 2007 season and Super Bowl XLVI after the 2011 season, including a memorable performance against the Patriots in the second championship game.
His departure came after a strong 2013 season in which he recorded 11 sacks. The Giants chose not to retain him, and he agreed to a two-year contract with Oakland. A common mix-up is confusing Tuck with fellow Giants defensive lineman Linval Joseph, who also left during the same 2014 offseason, signing with Minnesota.
