Which declaration did Japan accept in the surrender announcement of August 1945?

The story behind the answer

Japan accepted the Potsdam Declaration in its August 1945 surrender announcement.

The declaration was issued on July 26, 1945, by the United States, the United Kingdom, and China. It demanded Japan's unconditional surrender and described the Allies' intended postwar conditions, including the elimination of Japanese militarism and the occupation of territory specified by the Allies.

The Soviet Union was not an original signatory because it was still neutral toward Japan when the declaration was issued. After entering the war against Japan on August 8, the Soviet Union joined the declaration's warning to Japan.

Hirohito's radio address on August 15 said that Japan had accepted the terms of the joint declaration, rather than plainly using a conversational word for surrender. The Cairo Declaration of 1943 also discussed Japan's territorial future, but it was a separate wartime statement. The Potsdam Declaration directly supplied the surrender terms accepted in 1945.
