Which daughter of Pandora and Epimetheus became the mother of the Greek race in mythology?

The story behind the answer

Pyrrha was the daughter of Pandora and Epimetheus who became the mother of the Greek race in mythology.

In later Greek mythological genealogies, Pyrrha married Deucalion, the son of Prometheus. When Zeus sent a great flood to destroy humanity, Deucalion and Pyrrha survived by taking refuge in a chest or ark-like vessel.

After the flood, the couple repopulated the world by throwing stones behind them. Deucalion’s stones became men, while Pyrrha’s stones became women. Their son Hellen was regarded as the ancestor of the Hellenes, the ancient Greek people.

This genealogy differs from the shorter Pandora episode in Hesiod, which focuses on the jar and the release of evils. Pyrrha’s role belongs mainly to the connected flood and origin traditions preserved by later writers, especially Apollodorus and Ovid.
