Which currency is used in Saudi Arabia and is divided into 100 halalas?

The story behind the answer

The currency used in Saudi Arabia and divided into 100 halalas is the Saudi riyal.

The Saudi riyal is Saudi Arabia’s official currency and has the ISO code SAR. The name riyal derives from the Spanish real, a historic currency that circulated widely in the region. Saudi Arabia’s modern currency system developed after the kingdom was unified in the early twentieth century.

The Saudi Central Bank, formerly known as the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority, issues the riyal. The riyal is distinct from the similarly named currencies of Qatar and Oman, which have different codes and monetary authorities. Saudi banknotes commonly feature national leaders, Islamic landmarks and the Arabic and English languages.
