Which C.S. Lewis novel features the wardrobe leading to Narnia?

The story behind the answer

The C.S. Lewis novel featuring a wardrobe leading to Narnia is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Published in 1950, it follows Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie after Lucy discovers a passage through a wardrobe into a snowy magical land.

Lucy is the first of the siblings to enter Narnia, where she meets the faun Mr. Tumnus. Edmund later encounters the White Witch, whose rule has created the land’s seemingly endless winter. The children become involved in the conflict between the Witch and Aslan, the lion who represents Narnia’s rightful hope and renewal.

The book was the first Narnia novel published, although many modern editions arrange the series by internal chronology and place The Magician’s Nephew first. The wardrobe itself was inspired partly by Lewis’s memories of childhood furniture and by his interest in imaginative portals between worlds.
