Which country lies between France and Spain in the Pyrenees?

The story behind the answer

Andorra lies between France and Spain in the Pyrenees.

The Principality of Andorra is a small, landlocked country in southwestern Europe. Its territory covers about 468 square kilometres in the eastern Pyrenees, and its borders touch France to the north and Spain to the south. The capital is Andorra la Vella, one of Europe’s highest capital cities.

Andorra has a distinctive constitutional arrangement. It is a parliamentary co-principality whose two heads of state are the president of France and the bishop of Urgell in Catalonia, Spain. This arrangement developed from medieval feudal relationships and was retained in modern constitutional form.

The country is known for mountain tourism, skiing, and duty-free shopping. It is not a member of the European Union, although it uses the euro under a monetary agreement. Monaco, Liechtenstein, and San Marino are also small European states, but none lies between France and Spain.
