Which country is scheduled to host the 2027 Rugby World Cup?
Answer
Australia
Answer
Australia
Australia is scheduled to host the 2027 Rugby World Cup. The tournament will be the 11th men's Rugby World Cup and is due to run from 1 October to 13 November 2027.
World Rugby awarded Australia hosting rights on 12 May 2022. Australia was selected after Argentina withdrew its bid, leaving the Australian proposal as the leading candidate. The decision gives Australia the chance to host the competition for a second time after staging the 2003 tournament.
A common mix-up is the 1987 Rugby World Cup, which Australia co-hosted with New Zealand. The 2027 event will be held entirely in Australia, with matches planned across cities including Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle and Townsville.
The 2027 edition will also introduce an expanded 24-team field, up from the 20 teams used in recent men's tournaments. Australia will be automatically placed in Pool A as the host nation.
