Which country is home to the world's longest bridge?
Answer
China
Answer
China
China is home to the world’s longest bridge, the Danyang–Kunshan Grand Bridge. This immense railway viaduct stretches about 164.8 kilometers, or roughly 102.4 miles, through eastern China’s Jiangsu province.
The bridge carries part of the Beijing–Shanghai High-Speed Railway, linking the densely populated Yangtze River Delta. Rather than crossing one single expanse of water, it runs across a landscape of rice paddies, canals, rivers, lakes, and low-lying wetlands. Its elevated design helps the railway maintain a relatively straight, level route through difficult terrain.
Construction began around 2006, the bridge was completed in 2010, and it opened to rail traffic on June 30, 2011. A frequent mix-up is the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau link, often described as the world’s longest sea-crossing bridge. That is a different record; Danyang–Kunshan holds the overall length record for a bridge of any type.
