Malaysia is home to the ramly burger, a street burger wrapped in fried egg.
The ramly burger is named after Ramly Mokni, who founded the Malaysian food company Ramly Food Processing in 1984. Street vendors commonly cook a beef or chicken patty, then wrap it in a thin layer of beaten egg on the griddle. The finished burger may include margarine, mayonnaise, chili sauce, black pepper sauce, cabbage, and onions.
The sandwich is especially associated with Malaysian night markets, roadside stalls, and food bazaars. Vendors often fold the egg around the patty into a compact parcel before placing it in a bun.
Although the name comes from the Ramly brand, not every street burger called a ramly burger necessarily uses an officially branded patty. The broad style is now a recognizable part of Malaysian street food culture.
