Belgium hosts the Belgian Grand Prix where Norris faced his 2026 penalty.
The race is held at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, near the town of Spa in Belgium’s Liège Province. Spa is one of Formula 1’s classic venues and is famous for its long lap, elevation changes, high-speed corners and unpredictable Ardennes weather.
Norris received a 10-place grid penalty at the 2026 event after McLaren fitted an additional power-unit element beyond the season allocation. He qualified third, but the sanction dropped him to 13th on the starting grid. The penalty was therefore applied at the Belgian Grand Prix, not at a race in a neighbouring country.
A common mix-up is confusing the circuit’s location with the wider Spa-Francorchamps name or with the nearby German, French and Dutch Grands Prix. The Belgian Grand Prix is nationally named for Belgium even though the circuit lies in the country’s French-speaking Wallonia region.
