France has the most officially recognized time zones, counting its overseas territories.
Metropolitan France uses Central European Time and Central European Summer Time, but French territories are scattered across the Atlantic, Caribbean, Indian, and Pacific oceans. Taken together, France spans 12 standard time zones, or 13 during part of the year when Saint Pierre and Miquelon observes daylight saving time.
Russia is often guessed because it stretches across a vast continuous landmass and uses 11 time zones. The United States also has numerous zones when territories are included. China, by contrast, officially uses only one time zone nationwide, China Standard Time, despite its large east-west extent.
