Answer
Morocco
Which country has the city of Casablanca? Morocco. Casablanca is Morocco’s largest city and its leading economic and business center on the Atlantic coast.
The city occupies the Chaouia plain in west-central Morocco. Its name comes from the Spanish phrase meaning “white house,” while its Arabic name, al-Dār al-Bayḍāʾ, carries the same meaning. The settlement has older roots, but the modern city was rebuilt and expanded substantially in the 18th century.
Casablanca became especially important during the French protectorate, when its port, railways, industries, and planned neighborhoods expanded rapidly. Today it is a major financial, industrial, and transport hub, even though Rabat—not Casablanca—is Morocco’s political capital.
The 1942 film Casablanca made the city famous worldwide, but much of the film was shot in Hollywood rather than on location. Another common mix-up is Marrakesh, a historic inland tourist center; Casablanca is Morocco’s largest urban and commercial center.
